What a neat city. We didn’t have much time here- but in comparison to our normal stops over the past few days we had an eternity! Knowing we weren’t going to be able to see everything the Denver area has to offer, we narrowed down the list to a few key spots and then made the most of it.
Day 3: we got to be tourists! You know, the annoying kind that drive way slower than the locals because they’re trying to hear the GPS lady’s broken English tell them which obscure street they’re supposed to turn onto.
Some good friends of ours are Broncos fans, so a quick trip to Sports Authority Field was in order. Since Oscar is a loyal Raiders fan, and I know next to nothing about team rivalries, I’ll claim ignorance if I’m found to have committed a crime against team loyalty codes.
We had lunch at a cool little place called D’Deli. Their menu- outrageous! Their food- amazing.
Not being at all interested in visiting the Coors brewery, we made our way up Lookout Mountain to catch a better glimpse of the Rockies and everything below. Buffalo Bill is allegedly buried at the top of the mountain. I’m not sure if he is or not- we never saw a body! But what we did see were some killer views.
Before we left, a friend of mine reminded me to hand the camera to Isaac while we drive. So glad I had that forefront in my mind. He’s been a great photographer! And I love looking at the pictures he ends up taking.
We made our way down the mountain and headed over to Red Rocks Amphitheater. If you’re ever in the Denver area this spot is a must see. Not only is it gorgeous and peaceful, but you get some good exercise in just trying to get to the top. Then, while you’re still trying to catch your breath, you can watch your child run up and down the amphitheater as if he were trying out for an Ironman Comp.
